Sharm El Sheikh: Cairo Day Trip by Plane

An early morning hotel pickup takes you to the airport for the flight to Cairo. Your Egyptologist guide meets you on arrival and stays with you all day, and an air-conditioned vehicle drives you between the sights. You start at the Egyptian Museum, then go to the Giza Plateau to see the Great Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx. During the day you also stop at a papyrus institute and a perfume and essential oils factory. Lunch is a buffet at a local restaurant, and afterwards you can add a Nile boat cruise for an extra charge. In the evening you fly back from Cairo Airport to Sharm El Sheikh, and a driver takes you to your hotel. The trip lasts about 17 hours, and flight times can change. Entrance fees to the listed sights are included; drinks at lunch, tips and a ticket to enter the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) are extra. The guide speaks English. You need a valid passport and an Egyptian visa; if your passport has only a Sinai stamp, visa help is available before the trip for an extra fee. Each traveller's passport copy is needed in advance for the flight tickets and permits, and seats are limited, so booking four to seven days ahead is advised. Bring walking shoes, a hat, sunglasses, a warm layer for the evening, cash, a phone charger or power bank and a dry breakfast from your hotel. Airport security may take away water and other liquids, so do not carry them.
